Since 2012, the Instituto de Fomento (INFO) of the Region of Murcia celebrates the "Entrepreneur of the Month Awards" with the aim of recognizing the most innovative entrepreneurial initiatives in the Region and thus encourage and promote the industrial development of Murcia. Since its creation, more than 450 innovative projects have been submitted, and 111 of them have been awarded.
Flowgy was awarded as the most innovative solution of the month of September. The combination, in a single software, of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and virtual surgery techniques for the prediction of surgical results unanimously convinced the jury of the Entrepreneur awards.
Flowgy's solution puts technology that until now was reserved only for engineers into the hands of ENT specialists. Through a user-friendly interface and complex computer processes simplified to a few clicks, the ENT specialist can in his daily clinical practice analyze, in a matter of minutes, in a scientific way the real behavior of the air in the nasal cavity of his patient, obtain very precise information of the nasal pathology and simulate, virtually, on a 3D model of the patient's head the surgical intervention that he would carry out in the operating room, to analyze its results and find the best option for the patient before it is too late.
The Flowgy medical software has been developed at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (Spain) by Manuel Burgos, professor of computational fluid dynamics, assisted by his two partners: Francisco Esteban, ENT specialist, and Viriato Olmos, product designer.
During the development of the software, more than 10 scientific articles have been published on the methodology and clinical results of Flowgy, and presented at more than 15 international congresses.
Currently, we are carrying out clinical studies in Morales Meseguer Hospital, Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital, Reina Sofia Hospital in Murcia, General University Hospital in Valencia, Virgen del Rocio Hospital in Seville and several private clinics.
This award gives us the opportunity to apply for the "Entrepreneur of the Year Award" of the INFO to be held in the first quarter of 2022. We hope to continue giving a lot of battle and win the final award!
