Complete the information provided in the patient’s clinical history and nasal endoscopy with objective and quantitative information of the air’s real behavior in your patient’s upper airway.
Complete the information provided in the patient’s clinical history and nasal endoscopy with objective and quantitative information of the air’s real behavior in your patient’s upper airway.
Functional analysis of the airflow in the nasal cavity from a CT scan of the patient, through computational fluid dynamics techniques.
The results obtained will provide the medical team with objective and quantitative information about the behavior of the air in the patient’s nasal anatomy, supporting the diagnosis and the medical professional’s decision making.
Customized analysis of the airflow in the nasal cavity from a patient’s CT scan.
This study allows you to modify the nasal anatomical structure of the patient (virtual surgery) and analyze whether the changes made will result in a functional improvement for the patient’s well-being.
Flowgy provides you, from a CT scan, a detailed certified CFD report of the air’s functional behavior in your patient’s nasal cavity. And it allows you, if necessary, to operate on the anatomical structure by virtual surgery to predict surgical results and thus ensure the patient’s well-being.
The analysis of airflow in the upper airways by means of CFD techniques provides you with a lot of relevant information about the functionality of the nasal cavity:
Yes! Flowgy’s virtual surgery module allows you to modify the 3D anatomical structure of the patient’s nasal cavity simulating a real surgical intervention.
Test different surgical procedures on the same patient to evaluate the effects of each one on nasal airflow. This greatly helps you to choose the best and least aggressive solution before proceeding with the real nose surgery.
You can add/remove air and tissue, as well as directly deform the existing anatomical structure with intuitive and easy-to-use tools.
Obtain reliable data about patient’s airflow, identifying major problems and how they influence internal nasal airflow.
No matter if you are a local ENT clinic or a large hospital with hundreds of cases per month, the benefit is guaranteed.
Extremely valuable information to accurately detect the patient’s upper airway pathology making the diagnosis more precise and safer.
Makes it easier for the medical professional to make surgical decisions by being able to perform virtual surgeries and compare them with each other in order to find the ideal solution for the patient.

"Flowgy represents a real revolution in the study of nasal cavities. Not only can we complement the radiological information, i.e. anatomical information, with the functional information of this program, but we can also perform virtual operations with the predictable functional result of the same, which is a very important approach to solve the real problems of patients with nasal pathology scientifically and not on the basis of impressions or experiences."
We analyze the DICOM or NRRD file of the patient’s entire head that you have sent us, to check that everything is right. Flowgy automatically anonymizes the confidential data contained in the file, such as patient’s name, age, origin, gender, etc.
We simplify the CT Scan images to a two-color version, representing air and solid. The segmentation allows us to generate a three-dimensional model of the patient’s nasal cavity, perform virtual surgery both on this model and on the segmentation itself and finally enables us to create the computational mesh in which we are going to solve the flow conditions you have defined.
With your supervision or that of one of our medical collaborators, we operate virtually on the three-dimensional model of the nasal cavity. We add/remove tissue or deform the existing anatomical structure (very useful for rhinoplasty or septum deviations). The surgeries performed will be, in the elaboration of the report, compared with each other and with the initial state of the patient.
For the resolution of the flow conditions we first have to create a mesh of the anatomical structure we have worked with. This mesh allows us to accurately generate the atmospheric conditions for the CFD resolution
Flowgy automatically resolves the selected flow conditions (Inspiration, Laminar, Compressible, Steady) the defined flow rate, as well as the temperature (inside and outside the nasal cavity) and humidity values set by you.
Once the flow in the nasal cavity has been resolved, we proceed to extract the most relevant data from the CFD solution (inlet flow in both nostrils, atmospheric pressure, pressure in the choana, flow symmetry, nasal resistance…) that will help you make an accurate and safe diagnosis and face the surgical procedure with more confidence.
With the data extracted, we graphically represent them in an understandable way with the support of images of the nasal cavity itself and a summary of the most important aspects of the study.
In a few hours we will send you by email the PDF report of the CFD study with all the relevant information to help you in your daily clinical practice to improve the quality of life of your patients.
